Optimizing Your Health By Addressing Causes, Not Just Symptoms!

Center for Wellness practices what we like to call “Integrative Functional Medicine.”  We treat you as a whole person and not just as your disease or symptom, want to get to the root cause of your issues, and are comfortable using multiple modalities to do so.  We’re not your traditional clinic, and we like it that way!

We take a different approach to healthcare.  To appreciate what makes us special, you first need to understand that not all of medicine is the same.

Conventional medicine – also called mainstream, Western, orthodox, or allopathic medicine – is a system in which doctors and other healthcare professionals (such as nurses, pharmacists, and therapists) treat symptoms and diseases using drugs, radiation, or surgery.

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) indicates a broad range of healing philosophies and approaches such as botanical herbs, acupuncture/acupressure, reflexology, aromatherapy, yoga, massage therapy, etc.  that are traditionally outside of conventional treatments but could be used as stand-alone alternatives or adjunctive approaches to conventional care.

Integrative medicine is a newer term that emphasizes the combination of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) approaches with conventional medicine.   It reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals, and professions to achieve optimal health and healing.

Functional medicine incorporates the latest in genetic science, systems biology, and understanding of how environmental and lifestyle factors influence the emergence and progression of disease.  It enables physicians and other health professionals to practice proactive, predictive, personalized medicine and empowers  patients to take an active role in their own health.
